Do you want to cut down on caffeine without losing all the health benefits that come with coffee? I’ve got a delicious and fabulous golden surprise for you – turmeric lattes.

Also known as golden milk lattes, turmeric lattes are a traditional Indian drink made from dairy/non-dairy milk and turmeric powder. In addition to being very exciting to look at, golden milk lattes are healthy and they taste just as good.

Due to the presence of the turmeric powder, turmeric lattes have a characteristic yellow color and a warm spicy taste. They also pack loads of health benefits, some of which we will discuss in this post. A golden milk latte is a mixture of warm water, ground coffee, raw sugar, coconut milk, and spices. It was created by a chef named Paul Bertolli, who has been working with coffee for decades.

He used to work for the Hilton Hotel chain and was inspired by the traditional Mexican drink known as “pulque.” Pulque is made from the fermented sap of the maguey plant. It is believed that pulque was first developed in the ancient Aztec culture. In the 1800s, a man named José Antonio Romero made the first coffee drinks in Mexico. He created a drink similar to the golden milk latte.

Health Benefits of Golden Milk Lattes

In this era of obsession with “health and fitness”, it’s very easy to mix a few ingredients and slap on a sticker that says, “loaded with health benefits. Well, not in this case.

Golden milk lattes have been consumed as a medicinal drink for much longer than you think.

In ancient Ayurvedic medicine, turmeric lattes have been consumed as a preventive medicine. Ayurvedic medicine (which roughly translates to the “science of life”) focused on preventing ailments as opposed to curing them.

It was focused on exploring health as a state of being in harmony with our internal and external environment. Turmeric lattes were a major component for creating this balance.

All of these benefits documented by the ancients are not just myths or folklore. In fact, several years of study have shown that consuming a golden milk latte every now and then will do your body many good.

Golden milk latte is a healthy beverage that is made with whole milk and sweetened with honey or maple syrup. It contains a wide variety of healthful ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants.

Many people believe that this drink will provide health benefits such as preventing cancer, controlling diabetes, improving memory, and preventing heart disease. However, there are no scientific studies that prove that this is true. In fact, there are no reliable sources that claim to have scientific evidence for these claims.

Golden Milk Lattes Are Packed With Antioxidants

Like most spices, turmeric powder has medicinal uses in various cultures of the world.

This is largely due to its strong anti-oxidant properties.

This means that a regular cup of turmeric latte contains compounds that can fight cell damage and make your body less prone to oxidative stress.

Studies have also shown that foods rich in anti-oxidants may reduce the risk of infections and diseases. (1

The Golden Milk Latte is a delicious treat that is packed with antioxidants. The milk in the latte contains an abundance of vitamins A, B6 and D, along with calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and vitamin K. It is believed that these nutrients can help prevent cancer and heart disease.

In addition to being nutritious, the latte is also delicious. According to one study, a cup of the drink contains about 100% of the daily recommended intake of vitamin A. Another study shows that the drink contains up to 50% of the daily recommended intake of vitamin E. The antioxidant content of the latte can also be compared to that of green tea. One study found that a cup of green tea has up to 30 times more antioxidants than a cup of Golden Milk Latte.

They Have Anti-Inflammatory Properties

The major ingredients of golden milk lattes, which are turmeric, ginger and cinnamon, possess anti-inflammatory properties. In traditional medicine, turmeric has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for many ailments including the treatment of inflammation. It is known to inhibit cyclooxygenase, the enzyme responsible for converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandins, which are inflammatory mediators. Ginger and cinnamon are also well-known for their anti-inflammatory properties. This combination of ingredients in golden milk is believed to work synergistically to create a powerful anti-inflammatory blend.

This means that golden milk lattes can help with managing inflammation. Many of us drink these lattes every day – but not all of us know how to make them. The main ingredients in a latte are milk, coffee, and steamed milk foam. You don’t need to know how to make a latte to enjoy one. In fact, latte art is not part of the regular process of making a latte. Instead, it’s an art form created by adding extra ingredients, such as chocolate syrup or whipped cream.

According to a 2018 article published by Harvard Medical School, chronic inflammation can lead to more serious ailments like rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and even cancer. (2)

By making golden milk lattes a regular part of your diet, you may be able to deal with arthritis better and reduce the amount of medication you have to take. (3In fact, researchers at Harvard University have shown that drinking three cups of this warm beverage a day, twice a day, reduces the signs of osteoarthritis by almost 50 percent. It also appears to help protect against Alzheimer’s disease. The golden milk latte is made from a combination of herbs, spices and herbs. It contains a number of compounds called phytochemicals. These include quercetin, curcumin, turmeric, gingerol, caffeic acid and chlorogenic acid. They have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

They May Help With Improved Memory And Brain Function

If you have been feeling like your memory has been a little woozy lately, golden milk lattes just might help.

A 2016 study confirmed that curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric powder, may increase Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) levels. (4The results of this study suggest that curcumin is a potential treatment for cognitive impairment. Curcumin is a major component of turmeric and has been shown to improve memory and learning. In this study, curcumin was tested on mice to see if it could help prevent cognitive decline in old age. Curcumin has been shown to reduce inflammation in the brain, and also to have antioxidant properties. The researchers concluded that, “given the safety profile and potential health benefits of curcumin, further clinical studies are warranted to determine whether it can be used as a safe and efficacious intervention for cognitive impairment in older adults.”

BDNF is a compound that promotes the growth of brain cells and helps the brain in forming new connections. A lot of neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson disease have been linked to low levels of BDNF. (5In fact, researchers are currently trying to find a way to increase BDNF production to slow the progression of these diseases.

This means that regular consumption of turmeric lattes can reduce the risk of developing these ailments.

Also, dairy creamers contain elevated amounts of protein and antioxidants which are necessary for preventing oxidative stress in the brain and improving overall brain health. (6). Oxidative stress is the overproduction of free radicals (elements of oxygen that are missing an electron) that damage cells, tissues and DNA. Studies have shown that antioxidants can prevent the accumulation of these damaging elements. Antioxidants include vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and flavonoids, which are found in fruits, vegetables, and other plant foods.

It May Improve Heart Health

Until date, heart disease has been one of the leading causes of mortality in the world. That’s why scientists and nutritionists continue to research ways to prevent or at the least, reduce the risk of heart disease.

A 2012 study identified the relationship between ginger and turmeric consumption (key ingredients in golden milk lattes) and lower risk of heart failure. (7In this study, the authors examined whether ginger and turmeric – both common dietary components – could protect against heart failure. It is well known that spices and herbs contain a wide variety of beneficial phytochemicals that have been shown to prevent a number of diseases. In particular, the two spices under study, ginger and turmeric, are widely used as ingredients in herbal remedies for colds and flu, digestive disorders, and arthritis. The study showed that women who consumed at least one serving per day of either ginger or turmeric had a significantly lower risk of heart failure. This finding suggests that spices and herbs may be useful for preventing heart failure.

In this study, a group of patients who had just undergone coronary artery bypass surgery were assembled.

A section of them was given foods containing curcumin and the others were given placebo treatment.

Thirty percent of those who received placebo treatment had further complications from the surgery while the other group had just a thirteen percent complication rate.

May Help With The Management Of Bacterial And Viral Infections

In India, where the golden drink is a common drink, it is used regularly as a home remedy for colds.

Test tube studies have shown that curcumin has the capacity to stop the growth of bacteria, fungi and viruses. (8It has been used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent for centuries. It is a compound found in turmeric (a spice derived from the plant Curcuma longa), which is used in food and traditional medicine. In the laboratory, curcumin has been shown to have strong antibacterial effects against a wide range of pathogenic bacteria. It can also stop the growth of cancer cells. The dose used in a test tube is about 50-100 times higher than what is typically recommended in foods.

Although these tests have not been adapted for humans, scientists believe that the possibilities are promising.

Also, gingerol, which is the active ingredient in ginger has been to inhibit the growth of bacteria in humans.

In fact, ginger extract is very useful in the treatment of some viral respiratory tract infections. (9Ginger has long been used as a spice and has recently been shown to have antiviral properties. Ginger contains a group of compounds called gingerols, which are known to inhibit influenza virus growth and replication. In fact, researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine found that when they tested ginger extracts against the common cold virus, they found that ginger was most effective when it was added to the solution during infection.

The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric and ginger will increase your immune system’s capacity to fight diseases.

May Improve Bone Strength

Golden milk lattes may just be your key to stronger bones and fewer fractures.  A new study of more than 300 adults suggests that people who drink two to three cups of golden milk every day have a lower rate of fractures than those who do not. The researchers found that the golden milk drinkers had about half the risk of suffering a fracture compared with the non-drinkers. In fact, drinking golden milk once or twice a week was associated with a 50 percent lower risk of fractures. The researchers believe that the benefits of golden milk are due to the high levels of calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D that are contained in the beverage. Calcium and magnesium are essential minerals that are needed for the proper formation and function of bone, while vitamin D plays an important role in maintaining bone health.

Animal and enriched plant milks contain calcium and vitamin D – both of which are essential for building and maintaining bone strength.

If you didn’t already know, your body is the king of creating balances.

When you maintain a diet that in low in calcium, your body begins to absorb them from your bones where they are stored. The best known source of calcium is milk, but you can get it in a lot of other foods, too, such as tofu and cheese. Calcium is essential for your body’s normal functioning. It helps control the amount of fluid in your blood and your muscles, nerves, and heart. It is also important for your bones to be strong and healthy. For this reason, you need to get enough calcium to keep up with your daily needs. A diet that is high in fat and low in calcium will lead to bone loss and weakened bones.

If this continues for extended periods, your bones will become brittle and prone to diseases like osteoporosis and osteopenia.

On the other hand, vitamin improves your body’s ability to absorb calcium from food. If your diet is deficient in vitamin D, it will be very unlikely that our body will be able to absorb the calcium from your foods.

Now that we’re all caught up on the benefits of golden milk lattes, we can go ahead to discuss how to prepare this refreshing and delicious drink.

When it comes to brewing your own cup of the refreshing beverage, there are no rules.

As long as the major ingredients are present, you can mix things up anyhow you please. But if you need somewhere to start, here are some great turmeric latte recipes. Turmeric is the most widely used spice in Indian cuisine. It has a yellow-orange color, and it’s mildly bitter and slightly pungent. It has been used in India for centuries to fight illness and cure wounds. The root of the plant Curcuma longa is native to southern Asia, and the spice is used extensively in Indian cooking.

Plain Golden Milk Latte

To make a plain golden milk latte, you will need: 1.5 cups of dairy or plant milk, half teaspoon of turmeric powder, half teaspoon of ginger powder, half teaspoon of cinnamon and honey (or any other liquid sweetener you feel like using).

Next, heat the milk in a pot. When the water starts to warm up, add all the other ingredients and whisk them until they are hot and evenly mixed.

NB: Animal milk curdles at boiling point.

If you are using animal milk, make sure to keep it on medium heat so that it does not boil. Once the milk boils, it becomes lumpy and develops an unpleasant acidic taste.

Turmeric Coffee

Just as the name implies, turmeric coffee is simply a golden milk latte and coffee combo.

To prepare this drink, follow the process described above, take the turmeric mixture off the stove, then add coffee in your desired quantity and stir until it is perfectly mixed.
